Fishing Quests

There are several fishing quests available.

Master Angler

During the weekly Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, if you are the first to catch and deliver Speckled Tastyfish x40 to Riggle Bassbait, you are the winner of the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza!

+35 Fishing

One of two possible rewards for winning the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.

Hook of the Master Angler

Turns you into a fish giving water breath and increasing your movement speed, but attacking or casting while in this form breaks the effect. Does not work out of water or at the water's surface. (cooldown 5 sec)

Apprentice Angler

After the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza ends (when a winner is declared), you can turn your remaining Speckled Tastyfish in to Jang, 5 at a time.

Rare Fish - Keefer's Angelfish

During the weekly Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, if you catch the rare-fish Keefer's Angelfish, you can deliver it to the Fishbot 5000 in Booty Bay for a reward!

Reward from the weekly Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza quest "Rare Fish - Dezian Queenfish". This item works like an enchant, permanently adding +5 fishing to your fishing pole. This bonus stacks with lures.

Rare Fish - Brownell's Blue Striped Racer

During the weekly Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, if you catch the rare-fish Brownell's Blue Striped Racer, you can deliver it to the Fishbot 5000 in Booty Bay for a reward!

The Family and the Fishing Pole

Catch 6 Darkshore Grouper from any open water in Darkshore. Darkshore Grouper may be caught without the quest and can be traded - so it is possible for another angler to catch these fish for you.

Blump Family Fishing Pole

+3 Fishing

The Blump Family Fishing Pole is the reward from alliance-only quest "The Family and the Fishing Pole", from Gubber Blump, found on Auberdine beach in Darkshore. The quest requires you to fish 6 Darkshore Groupers, which can be caught off the coast of Darkshore.

Selling Fish

Obtain 10 Spotted Sunfish. These can be caught from any open water in Redridge Mountains, or taken from the corpses of Murlocs in the zone.

Snapjaws, Mon!

Horde-only. Kill 15 Saltwater Snapjaws, which can be found wandering along the coast of the Hinterlands.

Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000

+25 Fishing

Reward for the Horde-only quest "Snapjaws, Mon!", from Katoom the Angler, in Revantusk Village, The Hinterlands. The quest requires you to kill 15 Saltwater Snapjaws, which can be found along the coast of the Hinterlands.

Craftsman's Writ

Gain Argent Dawn Valor Token by delivering Scourgestones (Minions', Invaders' or Corruptors') to the Argent Dawn. Argent Dawn Valor Tokens can then be given to Dispatch Commander Metz (quest They Call Me "The Rooster") in return for a Craftsman's Writ. There are 24 different writs, only 3 of which require fish. Writs can be traded freely, so may be bought at the auction house. Writs for fish are: 30 Lightning Eel, 30 Plated Armorfish, or 40 Stonescale Eel. If you have both a Lightning Eel and a Plated Armorfish writ, then you can fish 06:00-12:00 or 18:00-00:00. Both fish appear together in reasonable quantities at these times. If you fish at the optimum time and location, Lightning Eel or Plated Armorfish writs will take about an hour to complete. Nat's Measuring Tape

Gahz'ranka is a boss found in Zul'Gurub. Summoning Gahz'ranka requires an angler in the group to complete the quest, Nat's Measuring Tape: Examine the Battered Tackle Box at Pagle's Point in Zul'Gurub. Take the Nat's Measuring Tape to Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh. You will now be able to buy Mudskunk Lure from Nat Pagle. Use one lure per summoning. Each lure requires 5 Zulian Mudskunk, which are caught from pools in Zul'Gurub called "Muddy Churning Water". Use the loaded Mudskunk Lure at Pagle's Point in Zul'Gurub.
